Iím The Polar Bear

Sitting on our deck with Marianne yesterday and couldnít help but over hear the kids playing in the backyard of the house kitty corner to us. One little girl is a lot louder than the others and seems to be in charge. I mentioned to Marianne that she obviously likes animals because a couple of days before Iíd heard her announcing that she was ëThe Monkeyí, and then, yesterday, she was ëThe Elephantí and today she was ëThe Polar Bearí.

From what I could hear, she never really ever got around to assigning animal roles to the other kids, probably because she spent so much time reinforcing the fact that she (and not them, I suppose) was 'The Polar Bear'.

I couldnít make out much more after this other than the mingled voices of little kids, at least, not until The Polar Bearís voice rang out commandingly: "Youíve broken your leg, okay? And youÖyouíve fallen and brokenÖyour neck, okay?

"What did I break?" yells an excited three-year-old, really wanting to know.
